last night as i was cleaning, i was listening to this podcast from gini smith at the city church. it was so encouraging to me and totally touched on some of the big God things i am struggling with. i can't be the only person that has recently had dreams shattered (how dramatic!) and is in a time of great change, and undoubtedly of excitement too. and if you're not excited about the plans the Lord has for you ("plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" - jeremiah 29:11) then i hope this message will really show and teach you that we have "access to faith" and that "afflictions produce good things in our lives" and, what i took away from this most, that there is still more left for you. "do one profitable thing a day!" a nice cliche that i always apply to the high school years but it applies to all of us - whatever it is that is separating you from a powerful relationship with God, making you feel not worth-it, causing you to think you're lost and that your dreams are dead, "it is not the end of the world". if you're still here, your purpose is not yet fulfilled! there are still great things that are going to happen for you, and i'm not just saying that. i may not know you, but greater things have yet to come!
Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.
We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
"i don't want second best - i don't want ishmael - i don't want something that i've just produced out of my desire to do something. i want to wait on God until He defines what the next season of my life is going to look like! in the meantime, keep moving forward. in the meantime, taking steps in the right direction! in the meantime, one profitable thing a day!"
